1 Direct Democracy VS Republic
Direct Democracy: All the citizens vote for the policy and parliament, people have their own rights, everyone is equal and they choose the leader.
Republic: People choose representatives from a group of people, and these representatives choose or vote to decide the leader.
2 Great Charter (Magana Carta)
Nobles told king John he did not have absolute power, established basic rights for people who were wealthy.
3 First Parliament
Make up of king, nobles, and 12 non nobles, 1 from each country, representative for the common people.
4 English Civil War and Glorious Revolution
ECW: There was an argument between the king and the parliament. They challenged the power of the king, king was excuted.
GR: Limit the power of the king and set up power of parliament, set up a new king (William of Orange) to be a king.
5 English Bill of Rights
Establish specific rights of people, states what king can or cannot do, states parliament rights.
Seperation of Power: so one person cannot control anything
Natural Rights: Men form government. Government protect it. (Needs power + cannot be solved cover throw)
